Barbara Kahn

Barbara began her professional career educating pet owners on proper care of their animals in 1967 as a staff member on and later contributing editor with Dog Fancy and Cat Fancy Magazines. When the editorial offices moved to California, Barbara secured a position as Assistant to the Director of the Bide-A-Wee Animal Shelter in New York City.

Observing that dogs were constantly being returned to the shelter because of recurring behavior problems, she encouraged the shelter's management to send her to dog training school to learn how to solve the dogs' problems. It was then, in 1969, that she attended a full-time six week course on dog training at Capt. Haggerty's School for Dogs in The Bronx, New York.

She spent the next 25 years as a veterinary nurse, technician, and hospital administrator in several high-volume practices in South Jersey and Philadelphia. During this period, she continued to offer clients solutions to behavioral and training problems on a part-time basis.

Barbara is currently a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and is one of a handful of obedience instructors in South Jersey to have passed the rigorous testing procedure to become a member of the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. Over the years, she has taught many puppy classes for Evesham Township and was a contributing editor to The Trend Newspaper for many years where her column, "The Wonder of Dogs" appeared weekly.

She currently Enjoys the company of her 4 dogs: 2 Silken Windhounds (Gideon and Isaiah) and 2 rescues (Libby and Louisa).
